Uniquely Designed Perforated House Voted Best Project 2022

Uniquely Designed Perforated House Voted Best Project 2022

Building a residential home is more than just ensuring a functional and practical place to live in– architecture is the intersection of beauty and function. As such, with every residential architecture design in Singapore, the architectural designers have to work closely with their clients to understand their sense of aesthetics, the nature of the home— whether it is a single-family or multi-family home– and many more. One of the primary responsibilities of any architect is to ensure that the client brief is met, giving the house residents a place they are happy to return home to.

Archilovers Best Project 2022

As the year ends, Archilovers have awarded some architectural projects around the world as being the best projects in 2022. The Best Project 2022 is awarded to some of the best architectural works out of 50,000 projects worldwide. An architecture company in Singapore, AR43 Architect Pte Ltd, has been given this title for the house’s aesthetics, creativity and functionality. The Perforated House is an architectural project completed by AR43 Architect Pte Ltd in 2021, located in the northern region of Singapore.

In a fast-paced city like Singapore, many homeowners seek refuge in their homes to unwind and relax after a busy day. In this project, the client wants to maintain home privacy while allowing ample ventilation, greenery and light to flow through. In this city, in a garden, it is not uncommon to incorporate greenery and natural light into the home, as it maximises the area’s natural resources. The Perforated House is designed with green spaces, acting as a buffer between the inside and outside. This green space not only acts as a tranquil visual buffer but also shields the inside from street noises and passersby. The architects have designed the interior spaces to extend towards the area’s existing greenery, blurring the home’s and nature’s boundaries.

Vertically angled sunshades were designed for their visual aesthetics and to allow morning light to filter in whilst limiting the views from adjacent houses. As implied by its name, perforations are used as an architectural tool in this design to control the amount of light and ventilation that can flow through. In addition to these perforations, the rooftop features an open space that was spliced from a typical roof form, reminiscent of origami. This creates a quiet space beneath the roof, perfect for the homeowner to relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the estate.
