Interactive Lecture Theatre, NUS

An interactive lecture theatre designed to support interactive approaches to learning and teaching. These new generation lecture theatres foster collaboration, discussion and group work, and offer new opportunities for staff teaching large classes. A front section of chairs in the theatres are mobile, rotatable to form two-way benches between rows allowing students to work together by facing each other in groups. Lectures might be structured to take advantage of this flexibility by interspersing opportunities for discussion, collaboration or project work into more traditional or didactic delivery modes. Interestingly, by breaking up a long timetable block in a large classroom in this way can help to improve engagement and attention, and encourage greater involvement from students in the learning process.

Multiple projectors and screens are designed to synchronise, allowing teaching staffs from within and beyond this lecture theatre to present their materials simultaneously. The lectern is at the front of the theatre, providing easy access to audio-visual controls and wireless connectivity free teaching staffs from the lectern to interact with the seated audience.
