Joo Chiat Place
The old and the new meets poignantly in this project; given the constraints that the façade of the shophouse should be retain, the interiors of this building provides ample of opportunity for the designer to explore the relationship between materials and emotions that a space can bring out in the user. The physical and emotional reconstructive potential of architecture is well placed here. Throughout the spaces, the use of earthly undertones and openness in the plans allows a level of softness that not only brings out the heritage of the shophouse but it complements the existence of modernity that comes along in this project.
